Author Guidelines

Scope

Bio-QI accepts original research articles, review articles, case reports and short communications that fall within the scope of the journal. See Aim & Scope.

Authorship

Authors must meet the ICMJE authorship criteria: a substantial contribution to the conception, design, analysis or interpretation of the work; drafting or critically revising the manuscript; approval of the final version; and accountability for the work.

Manuscript preparation

  • Write in clear, grammatically correct English.
  • Prepare the manuscript for double-blind review, with author information in a separate file.
  • An ORCID iD is encouraged for the corresponding author.
  • Standard structure: Title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, References.

Required statements

Every submission must include:

  • a Conflict of Interest statement;
  • a Data Availability Statement;
  • a Funding statement naming all sources of financial support;
  • Ethical Approval and Informed Consent statements, for research involving people or animals;
  • an AI Use Declaration, disclosing any generative AI tools used.

Reporting guidelines

Follow the reporting guideline that fits the design of your study, for example CONSORT for randomised trials, STROBE for observational studies, PRISMA for systematic reviews, CARE for case reports and ARRIVE for animal research, and say in the Methods which one you used.

Peer review

Review is double-blind, by at least two independent reviewers. The first editorial decision typically takes 12 to 14 weeks.

Copyright and licensing

Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Authors retain copyright, and no transfer agreement is required.

Article Processing Charges

Charges are based on the income classification of the corresponding author's country and on the type of article, and are payable only on acceptance. Full waivers are available where they apply. See Article Processing Charges.
