Editorial Process

Bio-QI follows a structured editorial pathway from submission to the period after publication.

  1. Submission. Authors upload the manuscript through the online system, following the Author Guidelines.
  2. Initial evaluation. The Editor-in-Chief assesses originality, scientific soundness, language and fit with the journal's scope.
  3. Plagiarism screening. The manuscript is checked with iThenticate.
  4. Language assessment. Submissions whose language prevents proper assessment are returned for editing, under the English Language Editing policy.
  5. Peer review. At least two independent reviewers assess the manuscript double-blind, under the Peer Review Policy.
  6. Editorial decision. Accept, reject or revise, based on the reports.
  7. Revision. Authors respond point by point. More than one round may be needed.
  8. Final acceptance. The Article Processing Charge is confirmed, or a waiver is approved.
  9. Copyediting and proofs. Grammar and formatting are corrected, and galley proofs are sent to the author.
  10. Publication. The article is released online under the CC BY 4.0 licence with a Crossref DOI.
  11. After publication. The article is archived in the PKP Preservation Network, and any errors are handled under the Corrections and Retractions and Misconduct and Sanctions policies.
