Archiving Policy

Commitment

Bio-QI is committed to the long-term preservation of, and access to, everything it publishes, so that the content stays available even if the journal stops operating.

Preservation service

The journal uses the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), a free, not-for-profit dark archive for journals that run on Open Journal Systems. It is built on the LOCKSS model (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), in which copies are held across a distributed network of nodes around the world.

How the content is protected

  • The archive holds the content securely and is not publicly accessible in normal circumstances.
  • If a trigger event occurs, such as the journal closing or becoming unavailable, the archived content is made public.
  • Published articles therefore remain part of the permanent scholarly record, and citations to them stay valid and traceable.
  • Readers and institutions keep their access.

Self-archiving by authors

Authors may also deposit their articles in repositories of their choice, without embargo. See the Repository Policy.
